The Story Part 1

Alright so here's the Chace story in a nutshell for those of you who haven't heard it a bunch already. I guess it is about time and Chace slept a lot better last night, so I have a little more motivation! It's crazy to think he's almost a week and a half old! On Friday, Sept. 17th, the day before Chace's due date, I was still feeling fine. Wishing something felt different, but really didn't have much hope. Trav was working all day at USU doing stats for the volleyball tournament so at 6 I grabbed some dinner to take to him and then stayed for the last game. We got home around 9:30 and got in bed like normal. After a while I started getting sharp pains in my lower abdomen but just thought it was gas. :) I tried to sleep on the couch in the living room to see if that would help, but the pains just kept coming back. Well it took me about an hour to stop being stubborn and finally realize that maybe these were contractions. Gas doesn't usually come and go on a repetitive 3 minute schedule. I went into the bedroom and woke up Trav, which wasn't an easy thing to do since he'd been working all day! We headed to the hospital and my yes, contractions, were now starting to hurt pretty bad. When we got to the hospital, the nurses were impressed with my 7cm dilation and how low he was, and they couldn't believe I'd been close to that for 3 weeks now! Thank heavens we got there in time for me to get an epidural. (Especially since we could hear the screaming from the girl next door who didn't have an epidural! She was giving me a little anxiety as I laid there waiting for my turn.) We were admitted into the hospital around 1am, they gave me the epidural, and then we just had to wait for the contractions to do the work and for the doctor on call to get there. At 5:30am, after the longest, but quickest 4 hours of my life, the doctor came in and checked me out. I was ready and he broke my water. He then left to deliver the screaming girl's baby, and the nurse took over. Trav got the surprise of his life when the nurse basically made him be the nurse's aid. It was just the nurse and Trav getting me through. At 6:27am the doctor finally came in and delivered the little guy needing "just a nudge" since Chace was already well on his way thanks to a little nausea and the action that comes with nausea that I somehow experienced there in the delivery room! Chace finally came and the nurse could not believe that he was 8 lbs. 7 oz. "You've got yourself a line backer" was one of the first things the nurse said after cleaning him off. We were so excited to have him here! What a crazy experience and I know I was super lucky being dilated that far when I went in and having such a smooth delivery! Chace ended up staying in the NICU after the first day he was with us, just so he could get precautionary antibiotics but that story is to come. I won't bore you too bad all at one time. Thanks for everyone's support though! We really appreciate it so much!

Chace's two favorite ways to just hang out :)
